Kids. Home schooled?

Anybody got any experience of home schooling? Considering it for my lad as he's not enjoying school...

What did you decide to do in the end?
I'm torn on the subject. I think the education system is pretty useless on the whole and with academia in mind err towards home schooling as the preferred option - but part of me thinks school is more about learning how to interact with other human beings than learning how to do the three Rs. Anecdotal evidence suggests kids entirely home-schooled come out a little 'odd' but a part of me prefers 'odd' to 'normal'.
