I think it's a sun fish. Was on its side flapping a fin. I approached and took some photos and it went vertical and swam off to the deeps. Was about 1m across, roughly circular. Here's a pic...
I was in Plymouth Sound/Cawsand Bay when I saw it. Sunday 10th Aug (yesterday at time of posting).
Then I caught some fish, went back to my mooring, and fried and ate it...

Whoops, my mistake
Yep, lots look like cod, but although it's still supposed to be the big favourite of the UK, I find it quite bland, though it could be worse, coley for example is awful

Ah now if we're talking chippy fish, it has to be cod, and the fresher the better, prefer it with a nice crisp batter, none of this soggy stuff ya know
