FOR SALE: Almost full 2.5l Blakes Tiger Extra Dk Blue 37110
As title says. I have a spare can of Blakes Tiger Extra in Dark Blue - code 37110 Surface of content is 1" from the lid - which if I remember correctly is pretty much how it was when full. Has been opened and a small amount used to finish off the hull of my last boat. Seems to be as-new, but wa...

Some photos of a yacht anchored at Bovisand.
I'm currently sat at anchor in Jennycliff bay. I figured with these north easterlies we're having, we'd have a bit of shelter. No such luck! At least the sun is shining. Last night we initially went over to Bovisand bay, but, after a barbeque, realised the swell just wasn't going to decrease - so mo...

Rocna 15 kg on a Westerly Tempest - With Pictures
Thought I'd share my initial experiences with my Rocna 15kg on here with some pictures I just took of it. When it first arrived I realised pretty quickly that it wasn't going to fit nicely in my bow roller without chiseling huge chunks out of my hull. As you can see in the photos, the bow roller on ...

Hi, I took my Centaur's main and jib to a sailmaker (Chris Scanes in Topsham, Devon). The main was falling apart - the jib seemed OK (though old), but I took it in anyway as I was going. Expected to need a new main and nothing done on the jib - but was informed the jib was badly misshapen and the ma...

Are you serious?!? That's crazy!! I did a similar thing in that I recently bought my first boat - with no experience - and did various RYA courses very rapidly before taking it out for the first time. But that was a Westerly Centaur - 26 feet long. a 52 foot cabin cruiser is going to be one heck of ...

Hi Blu. I used to have a Westerly Centaur which is a 26 foot bilge-keeler. It was my first boat and am now only on my second in my second season of sailing so my opinion is probably not worth a great deal, but the difference between the bilge and my current fin keeler doesn't seem to be all that gre...

It's so hard to answer this without knowing you personally. Some people with no experience whatsoever might find they grasp the concepts involved fairly readily, without much tuition, - while others don't - and require mucho lessons. Guessing I'm somewhere in the middle. My experience over the last ...

Couple of problems with that idea: 1. VAT is payable to customs based on the value of the boat at the time of importation - if you cannot prove that VAT was _ever_ paid on the vessel somewhere else. 2. Fraudulently creating a receipt for the purchase is against the law - defrauding HMRC is not a goo...

Buying a second hand yacht is difficult!
As some of you know I've been in the process of selling my Westerly Centaur (now sold) and buying a larger yacht as a first liveaboard. I found a suitable vessel and got the ball rolling on making a purchase. I paid a surveyor and a solicitor, and bought a berth in a marina - I sold my existing vess...
