You would think it was nice down there but this weekend was the first time since we launched that I contemplated switching the heating on. Wind speed was consistent at 25 knots with gusts regularly over 30, and that fine rain that soaks everything  . I think I am becoming a serial weather comp...

The boat will have to go through the local equivalent of being coded for charter for whatever country you keep it in - generally not possible if it is a british flagged vessel in say Spain, Portugal, Italy, Greece or Turkey. There are also tax liabilities to consider. In addition, most people charte...

Still - better than having a solar panel in Scotland - I don't think they work north of the border! Hope wind has eased a bit now. It's looking OK for Plymouth this weekend but I am hoping for a big lump of high pressure to form as we are sailing to Guernsey a week monday (allegedly!!!) :o . Still o...

Agree with above!!! :-) Told you the weather is a bit special up there. Mind you we had to leave Plymouth on Saturday afternoon with 7 & 8's forecast overnight and into Sunday.
Luna looks sad :-(

Got a net??? Can't really admit to being an expert (vegetarian). Just always see people fishing on Loch Ness. Can you use the dog to scare them into a bucket? :-)

Yep, plenty of "Grrrr" up there, they could export it!!!! Would love to be able to work from the boat, weekends just not long enough anymore and always a real sense of sadness when we leave on a Sunday. Bet you can improve your fishing record in Loch Ness, bit of fishing off the back at du...

Sounds logical - our Beta anode depletes quite quickly too. I am sitting at home today (waiting for a Hydrovane to be delivered!! yipee!!!) and am now VERY jealous of you being in Loch Ness. We went there a few years ago for new year and had a great time. Urquhart Castle is a fantastic spot - worth ...

Another nightmare!!! Have you changed your anode on the heat exchanger regularly - if not, the brass bolt might of de-zincified and become weak- just a thought. At least you have the good bit of the trip to look forward to. Keep on trucking!!!!! Rob

In order to calculate the correct size and pitch for your boats setup, you could use a propcalc programme. You can download one from www.castlemarine.co.uk/pitch.htm . The usual caveats apply when choosing a new prop - 3 blades will give you more 'bite' compared to a two blader but will induce sligh...

OOh yes, looking nervous there on the radio. Your face looked like you were going to ask the harbourmaster if you could borrow £100! Fortunately, I get Karen to do all the radio stuff (even though no one seems to understand her Yorkshire accent). Personally, I've always had an irrational fear of tel...

Sounds like a result!!!! Still reeling from the descriptors. Shafts, lube, lips the list goes on. Just keep an eye on it and it probably won't cause any more issues. Perhaps it wasn't quite seated correctly. A toast to a dry bilge!!!!!!

Hmmmm would that imply that the seal isn't damaged? Something strange going on there. I can't see that what you have done would lead to catastrophic failure but then I suppose that's the achillies heel of dripless stern glands, when they go, they can go and cause a bloody big leak!!! Suggest running...
