to pressure wash or not to pressure wash your decks

As i was on all fours scrubbing the decks yesterday, labouriously removing that green algae that seems to appear almost over night and makes my beloved look so scruffy, i started to wonder if it would be a practicle solution to blast it off with a pressure washer. The hull obviously is strong enough...

Hi Vic,all i can offer is a run down of what happens here in plymouth when i am relaunched after a while on the hard. First the travelling hoist picks up the boat, the shore crew do it all ensuring i am well out the way (health and safety i guess ) then the hoist driver turns a blind eye for five mi...

Being a...

Hi Bob so far as i can recall you'vegot about 1m at chart datum at Weir quay, so most of the time i would have thought you would have a metre or so on top of that except maybe at springs, so ideal choice of boat i would think. My brother in law had one untill a year or so ago, cracking yachts !

Hi Bob , Richard again ........ is the cooling system on your md direct sea water cooling or fresh water around the cooling jacket and then salt water via a heat exchanger. If its the latter you have no problem as the engine wont overheat in the time it takes for the impellor to pump sea water throu...

i am no expert here but i must say something as we seem to be the only two here bob lol ! i reckon so long as your sacrificial anode is ok , your skin fittings will be ok as the anode corrodes in preference to the fitting.

i guess so much depends on where your going to sail and what type of sailing your going to do ,if your going to cruise around without spilling the tea and fancy exploring shallows then a bilge keel like a westerly centaur takes a lot of beating in my opinion , bomb proof easy to sail and i believe t...

Hi Bob , i sail and instruct out of plymouth and would say its very straight foreward, plenty of sheltered dep water and loads of great places to sil whatever the weather. The royal navy are quite quick to ask to to keep clear with their little ribs whenever they have something manouvering around, a...
